21.11.2011 - A Logo for Zürich 2014 – UBS a Partner for the Championships

A crown of lights mirroring the 31 light poles of Letzigrund Stadium will serve as official logo for the European Athletics Championships in Zurich to be held from 12 to 17 August 2014.

At a media conference, the Zurich promoters presented the corporate visual identity for the event during which about 1 400 athletes from 50 nations will be hunting titles and medals. Two and a half years before the first starting gun will be going off, UBS, who is also a sponsor of the national athletics team, has signed on as a main partner for the mega event. more

06.09.2011 - Weltklasse Zürich Showdown – Shot Put Prelude at Zurich Main Station on Wednesday – An Action-Packed Programme of Events on Thursday

After Daegu, Zurich: The world’s best athletes are gathering for a big showdown and for the Samsung Diamond League final in Zurich this week.

All of the evening’s events boast star-studded line-ups. All in all, athletes competing in Zurich combine more than 100 positions in the Daegu finals, 19 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals. In addition, three world record holders, 13 Olympic champions, and 17 world leaders are getting ready to shine at Letzigrund Stadium. more

05.09.2011 - A week of Weltklasse Zürich is about to begin!

On Tuesday, Weltklasse Zürich will get under way with a number of pre-meeting events: At noon, the exhibition Experience World-Class Performances will be opened at Zurich Main Station.

In the evening, stars will meet with kids for eleven fun training sessions at locations around the German-speaking part of Switzerland. more

27.07.2011 - Yelena Isinbayeva to be Back for a Week of Weltklasse Zürich!

Two years after flying to a new world record mark of 5.06m at Letzigrund Stadium, Yelena Isinbayeva will be back in Zurich this August. The Russian pole vaulter will compete at this year’s Samsung League final to be held on Thursday, 8 September 2011.

The multiple Olympic, World, and European Champion will make as many as three appearances during the 2011 Weltklasse Zürich festival of events: In addition to her competition, she will be present at “Jugend trainiert mit Weltklasse” – the meeting’s traditional kids’ event – on 6 September, as well as at the national final of the UBS Kids Cup on 10 September! more

12.08.2010 - All-Star Cast for Zurich

With eight days to go before the first Samsung Diamond League final, the impressive line-ups for the events at Weltklasse Zürich have been announced. Once again, the meeting will more than likely present the best fields of the season worldwide.

In addition to the international athletics star cast, the meeting will offer a number of Swiss highlights, including a lap of honour by European Champion Viktor Röthlin. Tomorrow (Friday), as of 10 a.m., the very last stadium tickets will be on sale. more

30.07.2010 - Giants of Sprint to Clash at Letzigrund Stadium

The clash of the two sprint nations Jamaica and the USA will represent one the main features of Weltklasse Zürich this year. World record holder, Olympic and world champion Usain Bolt will lead the Jamaican squad, while Tyson Gay and his US colleagues will be their strongest opponents.

In the women’s races, Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell-Brown and US sprint star Carmelita Jeter will compete in another duel between the two current leading sprint nations.
 
The Zurich Trophy - already a traditional relay finale to the fireworks of athletics at Letzigrund Stadium - will be a special highlight in 2010: The Usain Bolt-anchored Jamaican team with Mario Forsythe, Yohan Blake, and Marvin Anderson will be facing a US team who will set out to write relay history. more

02.07.2010 - UBS Kids Cup: Athletics Platform for 70,000 Children

The new UBS Kids Cup will represent an ideal platform for more than 70,000 young athletes - throughout Switzerland and throughout the year.

With its new role as a title sponsor of the national athletics kids programme, UBS is to expand its commitment in athletics substantially. UBS also renews both long-term sponsoring agreements with Weltklasse Zürich and Athletissima Lausanne, the two Swiss Diamond League meetings. more
