September 7th,2007, a glamorous opening night for the new Letzigrund Stadium. The architects' vision of a ‘walk-in sculpture' has become reality - an open oval, harmoniously fitting into its environment. The characteristic roof is most impressive. And with the infield being well beneath street level, the stadium structure rises no more than 17 metres.

The stadium is a multifunctional arena, accommodating - depending on the event - 24 500(football), 28 700 (athletics) or 50 600 (open-air concerts) spectators. The cost of the construction amounted to approx. 115 million Swiss francs.
